Concepts of Nature by Andy Rouse
I have been checking out Andy Rouse's web site for a while now, and I wanted to tell you all about this stunning book that he has brought out. Check out this stunning book for yourselfs.... Concepts of Nature
Description
Concepts of Nature is very personal to me as it shows how my style, and
my thinking on photography and light, has changed over the past few
years. It shows the rebirth of my photography, from the first (and
almost last) suicidal steps on the African plains to the portfolio led
style of work that I have recently completed on South Georgia. When you
first look at Concepts of Nature you will see that it is a very
different book, since I wanted it to appeal to all genres of
photography – not just wildlife. I take a lot of my inspiration from
the work of other professionals like the late Lord Lichfield, Ansel
Adams and Galen Rowell, together with modern day impresarios like Joe
Cornish. All of these photographers are in a different genre from my
own but they all have something to teach me and by looking at the way
they use and express light I can apply it to the situations that I
find. By doing this I am constantly improving and pushing the
boundaries of my work forward, something that I believe all
photographers should do.
Concepts of Nature contains some of my best work to date, right from my
early beginnings upto and including my recent BBC award winning shots
(in fact it contains 6 winners of major international awards). The text
that accompanies each picture is a mix of my views on photography and
light, some useful technical information and, perhaps more importantly,
the story of the image itself. I am so fortunate to see such wonderful
wilderness that I want to share the experiences and emotions with the
readers of this book; only by doing this, and re-connecting people with
wildlife, can we ever hope to save the species on our planet that are
threatened with extinction.
This book has been a real labour of love for me and I have put so much
emotion into it; it is also designd by Eddie Ephraums so is a beautiful
book to own with cracking repro throughout (for once). Just click the
PDF file to view a few sample pages and you will see how beautiful this
book is.
