An ultra wide-angle zoom lens with dynamic expressive capability for all EF-S mount EOS cameras; exceptionally small and lightweight for maximum mobility.

Features

  • Super wide angle zoom for all EF-S mount bodies
  • Superb image quality
  • Lightweight and compact
  • Focusing distance of just 24cm.
  • Fast near-silent USM AF
  • Super Spectra coatings
  • Circular aperture
  • Optional exclusive lens hood

A new perspective.

With its effective focal length range of approximately 16-35mm in 35mm format, the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM is a remarkable lens with outstanding image quality that will take your photography into new dimensions and areas of dramatic expression.

Beyond human perspective
The super-wide zoom not only gives you the freedom to get exactly what you want in the shot, it dramatically alters perspective to allow for dynamic expression. The lens allows you to get extremely close to subjects, exaggerating the difference in size between a near object and its background. Creative photographers can use this phenomenon to create excellent separation between subject and background for a strong sense of presence, or for a pan-focus effect with everything from foreground to background sharply in focus.

Small, light and close
Exceptionally light and compact for its focal length range, the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM also has an incredibly close minimum focusing distance of just 24cm.

Fast focus
A ring-type USM works in concert with the camera to provide super-fast, precision auto focusing and predictive tracking - with full manual override available at any time.

Designed for digital
Designed specifically for digital photography, the lens has specially shaped lens elements and Super Spectra coatings to suppress ghosting and flare, which can be caused by reflections off digital camera sensors. An exclusive optional lens hood can further reduce the incidence of flare.

Background blur
A circular aperture provides a pleasing background blur when shooting with a wide aperture; ideal for creating a sense of depth and getting your subject or model to stand out from the background.

Being a semi pro enthusiast I was using my kit lens for over two years. I thought my 18-55 and 55 -250 lenses will serve whole purpose of my photography. Over a period of time I started gaining interest in landscape photography and came to know my cup of tea. After knowing my dslr (canon t2i) and various lenses, I knew I was missing something. After researching and reviewing countless hours to find my need. I decided to buy 10-22 mm canon lens. (Thought of renting for trip to Lake Tahoe, but ~ $80 rent for 4 days was giving me good reason to buy a brand new.) This lens was on my camera body for entire trip to Lake Tahoe. It was fun having this lens. After using it I hardly found any vignetting or any distortion using at 10 mm. This was true even using with polarizer and ND filters. It made very little sound during adjusting focus point. I can clearly say this is very close to canon prime lenses. One major disadvantage is that this does not come with lens hood. I had to buy canon EW - 83E separately with this lens. Does this justify cost of buying this lens? Absolutely YES. Don't go with Sigma, Tamron or Tokina guys. Pay little extra and get this lens. By far the best ultra wide angle lens for crop sensor bodies in market, period. Nikon are you listening? [...]

Like everyone else I love what this lens can do for landscape and arty shots. The best lens ever made for a crop sensor.

Finally a great lens for the 1.6x crop camera

WOW I had my T3I about 4 months with Kit lens and after reading every review and every lens description I finally ordered an additional lens (Cost almost as much as the camera)and picked the 10-22, I was amazed at what it did for indoor and outdoor shots, includes everything in the shot (Wide) that was impossible with my Iphone, kit lens, or Powershot that I had experienced before. I know nothing and I am brand new at this, once this lens rocked my world I thought: give me more, I ended up buying the 50 MM and the 55-250 all good for special purposes but nothing as amazing as the Wide Angle boost of the 10-22. I am just learning that a good filter adds a lot of value, they say forget the junk and the filter for this lens is $75 min (ouch), now I just have to learn to use these great tools.

Quite Possibly Canon's Best EF-S Lens

Very handy zoom range. Just above a fisheye to long enough for some general shooting. I've found an unusual use for it: crawling around in passages under boulder fields in the desert. Even in places that border on claustrophobia I get interesting shots.
