50mm wide-aperture standard lens with high-quality optics and Nikon’s exclusive Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for whisper-quiet operation. Features a large maximum aperture of f/1.4 that ensures a bright viewfinder image, and is ideal for low-light shooting situations or when a shallow Depth of field is desired.
50mm wide-aperture standard lens (35mm equivalent: 75mm when used with a Nikon DX-format SLR).
I simply love this glass, I've not stopped using the lens since I bought it. Using it with a D300 works so well for portrait (75mm) with the crop factor. I have the 24-70mm F2.8, which is an amazing lens but its so heavy. Working without a zoom really makes you stop and think about the composition. Highly recommended and fantastic value for money as I see no real difference in sharpness at F2.8 compared to the very expensive 24-70mm. I look forward to using it when I can afford to go full frame.

Great little lens, fastest cheapest AF-S lens. Can see in the dark. Loses a little contrast wide open, but not much sharpness.
