New Camera 2007/09/07 18:51 Karma: 0
Well someone made me an offer I just couldn't refuse, which meant spending some more money!

I managed to sell my Canon 350D with kit 18-55mm lens, Canon bag, 1Gb Extreme III card for £350. I have promised to get the sensor cleaned as well. I was going to get a sensor cleaning kit from Jessops at the same time as the camera, however a helpful chap who sounded like he knew what he was on about told me not to buy the £60 kit, but instead take the camera to Black on White in Coldharbour Rd, who do a pro clean for £25+VAT. I have since been hearing very good things about the company.

ANYWAY..... someone accepted the offer last week, and so I went and bought the EOS 400D (not the 40D) for £480 but because I got it before the 31st of August I'm eligible for the £50 cashback offer. I was given strict instructions from the missus that I was not allowed to even unbox my new toy until the old camera was sold. To my horror, the day after buying it the buyer pulled out

So I have spent this week touting my wares around Keypoint and another friend today parted with their cash. This meant tonight has been the ceremonial unboxing of the new camera

All in all I have managed to sell a two year old camera and upgrade mine for £80. What a bargain!

Hi Paul,

Sounds a good move for only £80. Mind you to have made it a fantastic deal you would have had to go for a Nikon...

So you must be excited, with a new camera(body) and the weather being some good I expect to see some good images next week.

give us an update next week on how it went.

lee

I get the feeling you are quite a salesman!

You got a great price for the 350D, Well done.

An no more sensor cleaning woes anyway, ad the 400d has the sensor cleaning built any anyway doesn't it?

If you can get a one off sensor clean for £25, and you are selling the camera I would go for it.

All the best, and hope to see some posts in the gallery!

Me? A Salesman? Well I have some yellow snow going cheap......

Anyway, yes the 400D does have auto sensor cleaning, it also has some clever system that if the dust does get onto the sensor and it cant be cleaned then it performs some algorhythm to "make-up" the bits in the picture covered by the dust.

As for pictures.... well Saturday I was tied to the computer, so ready to go out on Sunday and its grey clouds everywhere Ah well at least I can go and scout out some venues for a sunny day.
