Stock photos are any photo that is "loaned" to someone and they are then given royalties. Before, only stock photos were available to major agencies. With the internet, however, micro stock agencies are now out and let people get stock images very easily. This also means that the stock photographer is now much more common than before.

Selling your shots in micro stock agencies is really easy. To do so, simply register for a website such as shutter stock, and then start submitting your photos. Every time your photo is downloaded, you make some money.

Now, you won't get rich off one picture (most of the time). But if you have a few hundred photos being downloaded almost every day, you could really start to make a decent amount of money. The amount of gains you get out if this is determined by your work.
